As healthcare organizations and providers attempt to improve healthcare quality and patient safety, it has become apparent that the systems of care delivery have been organized to promote the convenience of those who deliver care rather than those who receive it.  To address these issues, new processes and structures are being developed to organize care around patients’ needs. We are embarking on new models of healthcare delivery in a number of specialty areas, hospitals and clinical offices.  If new processes are to be successful, physicians, healthcare providers, and administrators must understand and commit to these new concepts.  This workshop is designed to present the rationale for patient and family centered care (PFCC) and demonstrate how this approach has already led to improvements in quality, safety, and efficiencies as well as staff, physician and most importantly, patient satisfaction.

The goal of this effort is to encourage the adoption of PFCC concepts and ultimately improve every phase of healthcare delivery. We are building an Advisory Council as well as other coalitions to develop and grow this workshop series by bringing together all constituencies and developing  healthcare champions for PFCC.
