Job Description: Full-time employment — Non-clinical

Mission

The AMD3 Foundation is a private, non-profit medical organization that provides bone and joint health education and care in the Western PA region area as well as no-cost joint replacement surgery and bone and joint health education for communities in Latin America.

Summary

Be primarily responsible for the oversight, planning and execution of Operation Walk Pittsburgh’s annual mission trip to Antigua, Guatemala as well as overseeing the Bone and Joint Health Community Outreach Programs.

For Operation Walk Pittsburgh, this includes recruitment and support for of volunteer travel teams of up to 80 clinical and non-clinical volunteers; surgical supplies procurement, donations and shipping; fundraising to support the overall cost of the trip; ensuring the highest level of patient and travel team safety; coordinating patient evaluation clinics and surgical schedules; co-coordination and planning with host hospital medical staff and administrators; and the coordination and sharing of resources within a developing network other Operation Walk chapters and orthopaedic mission groups across the US.

For the Bone and Joint Health Community Outreach Programs Work this includes working closely with Foundation staff, organizational partners and the Board of Trustees to develop and implement innovative bone and joint health education programing and clinical outreach events across Western, PA. The Director will build and sustain relationships with partners and local organizations, advocates, community leaders, and allied groups to strengthen regional coalitions and advance shared mission and goals.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work closely with the Foundation leadership and Board of Trustees to develop and implement overall fundraising strategies and events in line with organizational mission and goals.

  • The Director will monitor and analyze fundraising efforts, prepare budgets and financial reports and be responsible for tracking donations and

    maintaining a network of corporate sponsors and other financial partners.

  • Work closely with the Foundation leadership and staff to develop and implement effective marketing and communications strategies to support shared goals, boost awareness, support fundraising efforts, and drive patient and community member engagement.

  • Provide leadership and support for the Foundation’s clinical and community partners, including the Bone and Joint Center at UPMC Magee-Women’s Hospital, the UPMC Wellness Center for Bone and Joint Health, and the UPMC Innovation Center wherever overlap with Foundation program goals exists.

  • Participate in weekly planning meetings with Foundation staff and other project stakeholders. Prepare and present quarterly reports for the Board of Trustees.

Preferred Background

The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor’s degree (Master’s degree preferred) in a related field and have a minimum of 3 years of professional experience with proven success in a leadership role with the responsibility of managing a team and collaborating with multiple organizations. Must have proven experience in program/project management – having these experiences in international setting is a plus. A medical background/training is also a plus.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to engage thought leaders, clinical stakeholders, community partners, volunteers and the general public.

  • Expertise in project management, including setting timelines, tracking progress, and meeting deliverables.

  • Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

  • Excellent problem-solving skills, including the ability to anticipate challenges and develop practical, innovative solutions.

  • Experiencial learning and using technology platforms, devices, and software.

  • Comfort with learning and operating bone and joint screening technologies including bone density ultrasound device, x-ray workflows, grip strength devices, falls prevention testing and nutritional assessments.

Other Requirements

  • This is a full-time, in-person position. Applicant must have the ability to travel between community sites as needed as well as to Latin America for the annual Operation Walk Pittsburgh mission trip.

  • Ability and willingness to flex time commitments depending on needs including some nights and weekends.

  • International travel is required, and candidates must posess a US passport.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a full-time salaried position. Health, vision, and dental insurance will be provided. Candidate’s compensation will be based on professional experience and educational background.
