Domestic: The Bone and Joint Health Series

Recently re-imagined for both community members and providers alike, for the last decade these health workshops have addressed cutting edge topics in bone and joint health, arthritis, treatment options, and more. Collaborations between Dr. DiGioia and area medical partners have facilitated more than a dozen(?) learning opportunities for individuals seeking information about common bone and joint ailments such as arthritis, as well as advancements in total joint replacement (TJR) surgeries and treatment options. All Bone and Joint Health Series events are offered at no charge to attendees, and typically occur multiple times per year.

International: Operation Walk Pittsburgh

For average citizens of Central America and beyond, the cost of a total knee or hip replacement is unspeakably cost-prohibitive or unavailable. Operation Walk Pittsburgh helps to bridge these gaps by conducting approximately 70 total hip and knee replacement surgeries over the course of each mission.

During these surgical missions, Operation Walk Pittsburgh works alongside in-country hospital administrators and leadership, physicians, nurses, nutritionists, physical therapists and health educators to provide education on the latest surgical techniques and research on pre- and post-operative care and rehabilitation. With ongoing investment in the communities served utilizing a patient and family-centric vision of care provision, Operation Walk Pittsburgh changes lives in the short-term while supporting long-term efforts to improve healthcare worldwide.

With ten years of experience providing education and medical care around the world,  Operation Walk Pittsburgh is poised to continue continue its work this September in Antigua, Guatemala.
